The protection of personal information is an integral part of doing business at Sageplan Finance (“the company”). Protecting personal information is important to us, and this policy sets out how we collect and manage personal information in a manner that protects the personal privacy of our clients, contractors, and employees.
What is personal information? “Personal information” means any factual or subjective information concerning an identifiable individual. Personal information may be collected concerning a variety of individuals with whom our company does business,
Personal information can be collected in a variety of forms, including written (such as correspondence and memoranda) as well as electronic communications and records, video or audio recordings, and photographs.
Examples of personal information include information concerning an individual’s name, age, sex, health, personal characteristics, or personal and financial circumstances. Personal information can also include such things as identification numbers (such as SIN or employee numbers), banking and income information, employment records, credit records, and medical information.
Personal information does not include the name, title, or business address, telephone number, or email address of employees of an organization.
At Sageplan Finance, we adhere to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Canada) (PIPEDA), a federal privacy law.

Accountability – My company is responsible for the personal information I receive from my clients, and I adhere to the principles of PIPEDA regarding the safeguarding of this information in paper and electronic documents. My employees, if applicable, also understand and respect these rules.

Collection Objectives and Limits on Collection, Use, Disclosure, and Retention of Information – Personal information, business-related information, financial information, and related information are collected and retained solely for the purpose of providing advice and ensuring that the products or services you purchase through me are provided to you quickly and correctly. In order to obtain products for you, I am required to disclose your personal information to insurers through brokerage companies. I only collect and retain information that helps me formulate advice, including personal information, financial information, and health information.

Consent – Due to the nature of my work, my staff and I must collect and retain a lot of personal information about my clients, including health data, financial data, and identity verification information. I use this information to understand your financial needs and propose possible solutions to any problems you may have. By becoming my client and signing this form, you agree to provide me with this information and allow me to disclose it to the companies from which you choose to purchase financial products, as well as the relevant intermediary brokerage firms. You authorize me to keep your information on paper or in electronic files for as long as you want me to be your advisor, or as long as it is legally or commercially necessary for me to retain it. You also authorize me to disclose your information to customer relationship management software providers and financial analysis software providers solely for the purpose of managing, organizing, and analyzing your data to provide you with better service and better solutions. If I were to retire, die, or otherwise be unable to perform my duties, you authorize me to transfer your information to another agent or agency to continue to meet your needs. However, you would have the right to choose another agent if you wish.

Accuracy of Information – I need to obtain accurate information in order to make appropriate recommendations. You can review the information I hold about you upon request. I can also update this information regularly to ensure that my recommendations regarding your situation are based on accurate information.

Protection Measures – Written information I receive from you is kept in secure binders or password-protected computer files. Off-site stored computer files are encrypted or locked. Old files that are discarded are shredded or otherwise completely destroyed. My staff understands the sensitive nature of this information and the importance of protecting it.

Questions, Concerns, and Access – You can contact me at any time by phone, email, or postal mail at the address provided on this page regarding records about you that are in my possession and to request changes.
